Ben Franklin PTO - helping to educate your children
No Name Calling Week
From: Dr. Shirley A. Dickinson, Principal
No Name-Calling Week is scheduled during the week of January 23. It is an annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing students with the opportunities to talk about this year’s theme “No Sticks. No Stones.” Our teachers will work together to provide different activities, class meetings and discussion around this topic. Bully-prevention is everyone’s priority for student safety. This year, we are also sponsoring a family poster contest, in coordination with our PTO. Each child is welcome to participate and create a poster that reflects the theme for “No Name Calling Week – No Sticks. No Stones.” You can decorate your poster as creatively as possible, but it is due back to school by Monday January 30. One winner will be selected from each classroom, and posters will be displayed throughout our school. Our children are our treasure, and we hope that we can stop bullying by promoting kindness, respect, and responsibility. Thank you in you in advance for your support of this proactive Family Project in our school.

Bethel Park School Lunch versus Packed Lunch
The document below illustrates the cost of a Bethel Park School Lunch verses the cost of packages parents can purchase at home for their children.  It also illustrates not only the value but the nutritional components that are required for a healthy school lunch. Taking advantage of a low cost nutritional school lunch not only saves money but provides your children with the nutritional variety and components to meet what their body needs to perform well in school.  Is your child getting all he/she needs when you pack their lunch?  Are you packing pop vs. a healthy carton of cold milk? Please note that Breakfast is also an option for our children at $1.25 EVERYDAY! Thank you and please call or email with any questions, concerns or comments!
