From the Principal:
October 2, 2017
Dear Franklin Families:
October is here, which means fall is in full swing! Please remind your child to bring a light jacket for those cool days. We are 6 weeks in having a WONDERful year, this being our first year having Wonders building wide. Thank you for attending our Wonders informational session and Open House. We had a great turn out! It was also nice to see siblings who went through Franklin. We hope you were able to get a better idea of your child’s academic day and the different things planned for the year. We hope you took advantage of the internet log on session in the lab as well.
Our K-1 grade levels will get their Chromebook carts this year! They are currently being serviced and programmed. Hopefully we will get them in the classrooms soon J
Thank you to Bethel Park’s best PTO, for hosting the snacks and planning the upcoming events. Please be on the lookout for their communications via emails and forms (sent out on Wednesdays throughout the year). Please send your email to firstname.lastname@example.org
to receive the most up to date information.
Franklin News from the Office:
Teacher Duty-Teacher duty starts at 9:00, we ask that students be dropped off at 9:00, with the exception of those having breakfast (8:50). If you drop your child off at the back door, make sure you are there by 9:10. If you arrive after 9:10, please bring your child to the front entrance.
Personal items-Please label all items with your child’s name (jackets, lunch boxes…). This does not exclude forms or payments. Please note that we are not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items. We encourage valuable items to be left at home.
Attendance-A quick reference form is attached. Please be aware that you will receive a system generated call for all absences (excused, educational trips…). You only need to call the office if your child should not be marked absent.
Fitness Testing Month-October is Fitness testing month. It is important that your child wears a good, supportive athletic shoe that is tied properly on PE days. Wearing the right foot wear helps prevent injury when they are tested in the one mile run/walk.
Pumpkin Patch-An opportunity for families to decorate a pumpkin and help turn our lobby into a festive, awesome display of creativity! (optional, more info to follow)
-If you are interested in registering your child for the “Crazy Chemworks” after school program, you can register at https://register.madscience.org/pittsburgh
